Dumb Dora

Here is a wrapup of some fresh news items from the last week or so in the Chicago area punk scene. The erstwhile dormant punk group Swimsuit Addition released three songs as a preview of their upcoming and final album, Dumb Dora. Listen to "Killin' Time", "Little Thing" and "Oh Tina!" at their Bandcamp page. The album and an accompanying graphic novella will be released on May 14. Dumb Dora will be out on cassette, CD and mp3 via Midwest Action and Public School Records. Swimsuit Addition last released the Killin' Time 7-inch in 2016.

Punk/indie band Typesetter announced some summer tour dates with Against Me! and Speedy Ortiz. The band previously toured with Against Me! last year. Typesetter last released the Glimpse split 7-inch with Living Room in 2016. The tour dates are below.

Post punks Kodakrome announced their album release show, which will be on May 22 at Emporium in Wicker Park with Bow & Spear and Horrible. More info on that show here. Kodakrome last released Midwest Charmer in 2015.

Pop punk emo trio Retirement Party released another new song off their upcoming debut album, Somewhat Literate. Listen to "Shoulder It" over at the Fader. Somewhat Literate comes out on May 25 via Counter Intuitive Records. Their record release party will be on June 15 at Beat Kitchen with What Gives, Dead Sun and Lettering. Hip hop folk punk artist Paulie Think announced some tour dates with Seattle's Bigger Than Mountains. The Get It Together Tour dates are below. Paulie Think released Dunny's Tamales last year.

Pop punk band OK Deal released their eponymous debut EP. This is currently a one man band looking to add new members. OK Deal was mixed and mastered by Chris DeQuick. Stream the EP at OK Deal's Bandcamp page.
