Local favorites opening for touring bands

Phil Collins - September 7, 2018

This morning's announcement of Riot Fest's aftershows got me thinking about the many shows coming up during the next couple weeks featuring local favorites opening for out of towners. There is a notably higher concentration of these shows this weekend and next weekend, so get out there and see a show or seven. Stream many of the bands mentioned here in this quick playlist on Spotify.

Anti-Flag flier

Tonight La Armada, Blind Adam and the Federal League and Death of Self open for Anti-Flag at the Forge in Joliet. The first time I saw La Armada they opened for A Wilhelm Scream. The most recent time I saw them, they opened for Propagandhi. They are no strangers to the big time shows like this. Their new album, Anti-Colonial Vol. 1 is a ripper. Stream it at their Bandcamp page. Blind Adam and the Federal League also had a great album out earlier this year, stream that at their Bandcamp page. Check out Death of Self's stuff here.

Subhumans flier

Saturday catch hardcore punks UGLYBoNES opening for UK classics Subhumans and Baltimore hardcore group War on Women. UGLYBoNES recently released their second full-length, Sunshine. Stream that in full at their Bandcamp page. Also on Saturday, Hi Ho opens for Warm Thoughts at Subterranean. You may know Hi Ho as Gillian McGhee from Turnspit and you may know Warm Thoughts as Elliot Babin from Touche Amore. Check out Hi Ho's stuff on Bandcamp.

The Mob flier

Sunday the 16th, hardcore pals The Kreutzer Sonata open for NYHC band The Mob, in their first Chicago appearance. The Kreutzer Sonata released The Gutters of Paradise earlier this year, stream it here. Also on Sunday the 16th, Sincere Engineer opens for Bouncing Souls at Cobra Lounge. Sincere Engineer's Rhombithian was the champion of Change the Rotation's 2017 best albums of the year bracket. Stream it here.
